This Privacy Policy explains how Official AV Club LLC, an Arizona limited liability company with its principal place of business in Tucson, Arizona, collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our website (oavc.com), game client, launcher, forums, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the public Service. Any participation by children under 13 will be offered exclusively through a separate forthcoming 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity with its own terms and privacy policy.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Creation of an OAVC account is required to use the Service. You must provide a valid email address (which we require for account management, security, communication, and revenue-related purposes) and a password. You may also optionally provide a username/display name.
  • Profile Information: Optional information such as avatar, biography, or linked social profiles.
  • Communications: Information you provide when you contact support, submit feedback, or participate in forums or community features.
  • Payment Information: We use Paddle as our third-party merchant of record. We do not store your full payment card details; Paddle processes and stores that data under its own privacy policy.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Gameplay and Usage Data: Progress, achievements, playtime, IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, crash reports, and analytics about how you interact with the Service.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We and our third-party partners (including analytics providers) use cookies, pixels, and local storage to operate the Service, provide functionality, analyze usage, and deliver personalized content.

C. Information from Third-Party Authentication Providers

We use Epic Online Services (EOS) as our primary authentication method, with possible future support for Steam, Google, or other providers. When you log in via these services, we receive:

  • Your unique identifier from the third-party provider
  • Display name and profile picture (if you permit)
  • Email address (in most cases)
  • Friend lists (only if you explicitly grant permission and use social features)

These providers’ own privacy policies govern data they collect from you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your OAVC account
  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process transactions and send billing-related communications (via Paddle)
  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, cheating, violations of our Terms of Service, or other harmful activity
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as follows:

  • With Epic Online Services, Paddle, and other authentication/payment providers to enable login and billing
  • With service providers (hosting, analytics, customer support, email delivery) who are contractually obligated to protect your data
  • For legal purposes: To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, users, or others
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity
  • With your consent or at your direction

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Upon account deletion or reasonable request, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we must keep it for legal, billing, or compliance reasons. If we shut down the Service permanently, we will provide reasonable advance notice and an opportunity for you to export or request deletion of your data where feasible.

You may opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe link or contacting us.

  • Opt out of the “sale” of personal information (we do not currently sell personal information as defined by CCPA)

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland Residents (GDPR)

If GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lawful bases include contract performance (account/services), legitimate interests (analytics, security, fraud prevention), and legal obligations. 6. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws than your country. We use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) when transferring data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (Epic, Paddle, etc.) that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law: This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Exclusive venue for any dispute is the state and federal courts in Pima County, Arizona.
